Our story

Peter and Rosemary decided on a drastic change of pace and lifestyle during one of the lockdowns craving a fresh start and a chance to reconnect with nature. They took the plunge and became the new owners of Haywood Farm, back in March 2021. Together with their daughter, Sarah, and Husband, Martin, plus their three children they embarked on an exciting journey to transform the site. It was a daunting task initially, but Peter was optimistic, saying “It will be fun!”

With a lot of hard work, sweat, and tears over the years, they learned new skills, faced new challenges, and pushed themselves to their limits. And with the invaluable help from Rosemary's brother, Ian, who lent his expertise and guidance, the campsite began to take shape. From its tired, worn-out state, the site was slowly but surely transformed into the treasured gem that it is today - a testament to the family's unwavering dedication and teamwork.

A small but well stocked shop was formed where you’ll find all the essentials and more. Our pizza kitchen serving authentic Italian stone baked pizzas was created. Plus, to make your stay as comfortable as possible we renovated our facilities barn by installing new individual showers. We also, created a new website and social media presence and we are over the moon to have already reached an incredible 10.6k followers!  The play area has also seen a great deal of improvement, with new equipment and activities to help keep children entertained during their stay. And we’ve created a large games room, equipped with pool table, table tennis, chalk board and an under 8’s area.

We are thrilled to have been joined by four fantastic new team members - Fiona, Sharon, Dieter and Danielle - who have all come on board in the last few years. They each bring their unique skills and personalities to the table, helping us to create a truly wonderful and welcoming environment for all our guests.

We have many ideas for further improvements, and there is always an abundance of tasks to tackle and exciting projects to keep us entertained. One day we would like to see some luxurious glamping units installed onsite, perhaps add some state-of-the-art eco-friendly toilet facilities on the top camping field. To extend the water use from our bore hole to include the showers is also on the list. We would also like to become more energy efficient exploring ways to reduce our carbon footprint by upgrading our solar panels and purchase a battery to save our electric energy, implementing sustainable practices throughout our operations. Car charging facilities is also on the list as is electric bike hire for guests to use in the neighbouring woods or beyond. We would also love to create a private decked area for our larger holiday home to include privacy screening and outdoor dining area.  Of course, not forgetting installing a new large playhouse up by the park for the little ones...The possibilities are endless, and we can't wait to bring these ideas to life!
